Brea Van Beek, M.Sc.

Brea has a Master of Science degree in psychology and has been supporting neurodiverse children and youth for over a decade. Brea began her journey in the field of disability as a Support Worker for Autistic individuals. While working as a Lifeguard, Brea went on to teach and coach swimming for autistic children and youth.

Always working or volunteering within the field, Brea was a Big Buddy for a person with prenatal alcohol exposure while completing her undergraduate degree. Brea then branched into Behaviour Intervention and Special Education Assistance, working with autistic children and youth with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and Prenatal Drug Exposure. It was while working as a BI that Brea and Elizabeth connected!

Brea continues to seek additional education and training in FASD, child development, ADHD, and supporting executive functioning. Brea is committed to building her knowledge and passion for supporting children, youth, and their families.

Neurodiverse herself, Brea is passionate about neurodiverse-affirming support and focuses on relationship-based connection. One of her biggest passions is helping others to discover their potential and reach their goals, supporting and modifying the environment as needed to fit their brains and abilities.

A thoughtful and skilled group facilitator, Brea has created and led online social-thinking groups using Minecraft, a group that emerged because of the pandemic. Brea is also a facilitator for the Outdoor Adventure Groups and can be found amongst the trees, learning about bugs and fungi!

Brea loves anything dinosaurs and cookie monster. On her days off, she can be found spending time with her husband and her two kids (likely playing dinosaurs!).
